Life looks very different than it did 12 months ago; my heart is both fuller and heavier, with the joy that I once knew slowly returning. My recent posts have included photos of Ohio’s fall foliage, snapshots from around the farm, and glimpses of pumpkin picking with the kids, and while our time in the Midwest won’t conclude for another week, this will be the last installment of things-we’re-doing-here pictures. This trip has been an adventure, a welcome rest from routine, and I hope you’ve enjoyed it, too. Overnight Oats, Two Ways

My, how time has flown! Our sweet Elijah is 2 ½ weeks old and growing like a weed. He’s strong and healthy, and my heart is filled with gratitude that he could be part of our family. While the joys of this phase are numerous, so are the challenges. The honeymoon period has come to an end, and we are now figuring out how to juggle the needs of an active toddler and a very hungry boy. How did it happen? It feels like just yesterday I was patting myself on the back for being ahead of the game with shopping and holiday preparations, then suddenly I realized Christmas is only 10 days away. Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Pancakes

Pumpkin. Does any better vegetable exist? I’m thinking no. It’s usually the type of ingredient that comes out to play as the leaves start to turn, but by Valentine’s Day, its orangey hue is a distant memory. For most of my life, I was content to eat it in pie form on Thanksgiving and Christmas, and that was about it.
